Reshaping Education for a Social & Sustainable Habitat
RE-HAB – Reshaping Education for a Social & Sustainable Habitat is a Erasmus+ cooperation project focused on modernising higher education for the habitat sector across Europe.
The project responds to urgent environmental and social challenges linked to construction, architecture and design. While the sector plays a key role in Europe’s economy, it also generates high levels of resource consumption, waste and emissions. At the same time, there is a growing skills gap related to sustainability, digitalisation and social innovation.
RE-HAB addresses these challenges by:
defining key competencies for future professionals in the habitat sector,
developing a joint curriculum focused on circular economy and social innovation,
creating an open-access digital learning platform with innovative training content,
introducing micro-credentials to recognise and validate new skills,
strengthening collaboration between higher education, industry and society.
By combining education, technology and social impact, RE-HAB supports the transition to Society 5.0 – where innovation serves both people and the planet. The project enables students, teachers and professionals to actively shape a more sustainable, equitable and resilient built environment in Europe.

Results
The RE-HAB project will deliver concrete, practical results supporting the green and social transition of the habitat sector.Together, these results will help students, educators and future professionals gain the skills needed to design more sustainable, inclusive and resilient living environments across Europe.

Competency Map and joint curriculum focused on circular economy and social innovation
Digital learning platform offering flexible and interactive learning paths
RE-HAB e-training course on the platform and social media accounts, available for any interested learner on enhance their knowledge on the importance of social innovation and circular economy in the Habitat sector. The e-training platform will be linked in the project and partner ́s websites, and project’s social media accounts, and will require basic registration to allow any user to get full access.
Open-access training materials aligned with European qualification frameworks
This accessible and engaging learning materials that empower the target groups, to gain the necessary skills for the circular economy. The development of OER training materials promotes open access to
education and fosters inclusion, equal opportunities, and lifelong learning. The use of social media platforms
and digital tools in the learning materials enhances their reach, interactivity, and attractiveness for younger generations.
Additionally, the incorporation of gamification elements and collaborative online activities will further stimulate active learning, peer-to-peer interaction, and engagement. The training resources will be designed to support both self-paced
learning and instructor-led courses, offering flexible pathways for diverse target groups.

Meet the Project Team
The RE-HAB project consortium brings together five organisations from five European countries, combining expertise in higher education, research, social innovation and digital learning: Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany), CETEM – Technological Centre of Furniture and Wood of the Region of Murcia (Spain), SHINE 2Europe (Portugal), Fundacja Parasol (Poland), and Cultural Foundation 1948 (Cyprus)
Karlsruher Institut für Technologie
The Department of Building Lifecycle Management (BLM) at KIT was spun off from the Institute for Industrial Building Construction (ifib) in early 2010 following the restructuring of the Faculty of Architecture.
In research and teaching, the BLM focuses on the influence of information technologies on design, construction and use processes. The development, application and transfer of integrative computer-assisted planning and cooperation methods – in the sense of integrated building lifecycle management (BLM) – and the development and application of corresponding data models and IT tools are key departmental approaches.

CETEM
CETEM is a business association and training centre located in the south east of Spain.Created due to an initiative by private companies from the furniture and habitat sectors of the Region of Murcia, and established in 1995 with the initial support of the regional government, the Spanish Ministry of Industry and the European Union. CETEM is formed by 40 professionals with different backgrounds: engineering, technology transfer, business administration, chemistry, psychology, teaching, design, etc. The scope of experience actively contributes towards the socio-economic development of companies by providing support and promoting processes of technology, innovation and development, such as strategies of competitiveness in the business environment and training programmes.
Fundacja Parasol
NGO providing a wide range of different educational programs and personal development opportunities for various groups, including seniors, adults, unemployed individuals, youth, and people at risk of social exclusion. One of our main activities is language teaching, particularly in English and German. Additionally, we organize workshops for seniors, vocational training courses, and training in distance and digital learning. Our educational methods align with innovative approaches such as lifelong learning, blended learning, and e-learning. To ensure the highest quality of our services, we collaborate with local authorities, freelance teachers, and various external experts, including methodologists, ICT specialists, psychologists, trainers and coaches. Our second area of activity involves the design, development, and implementation of e-learning products and software. We provide e-learning solutions, training and services for different educational sectors and diverse target groups.
SHINE 2Europe
SHINE 2Europe is a Portuguese SME dedicated to promoting inclusive communities for all citizens. Its mission is to perform applied research and support the implementation of tech-Savvy, Healthy and INclusivE solutions (SHINE) in Europe. SHINE achieves its vision by sharing best practices, promoting active networking among stakeholders, and developing impactful projects, having a vision of fostering societal growth and inclusiveness.
SHINE 2Europe is a Portuguese SME dedicated to promoting inclusive, tech-savvy, and sustainable communities. Since its creation in 2019, SHINE has developed over 50 projects, including 15 co-funded under Erasmus+, focusing on inclusion, digital and green literacy, health, and social innovation. SHINE conducts research, organises workshops, and develops training materials and IT solutions, such as e-learning platforms and educational games, to empower communities and address societal challenges. It also fosters citizen engagement, co-creation, and policy-shaping to improve democratic processes and inclusion.
Cultural Foundation 1948
The Cultural Foundation 1948 (CF1948) was established in September 2020 as a non-for-profit NGO with the aim to foster
social change that can bring about a positive transformation to local, national and regional contexts. CF1948 envisages to
establish itself in society as a leading institution in stimulating processes of learning, research and preservation of historical and cultural heritage as well as engaging citizens and particularly the youth in democratic and participatory forms of action.
CF1948 endorses a wide application of the term culture that encompasses social actions at various levels and of various
forms: educational, training, social, athletics, research, scientific, political, historical, cultural, etc. At
